In Molly Ivins last column before her death, she asked important questions about the attack on Iraq:

“How could we have let this happen? How could we have been so stupid?”

It is the logical consequence of institutionalized denial over decades of covert wars and other official scandals that have numbed the US public to passive acceptance of these crimes.
